Donation and Refund Policy

Thank you for supporting Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center. Your generosity helps us provide food, clothing, outreach services, and other assistance to individuals and families who need a helping hand up.

Charitable Donations

Financial donations made to Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center are intended to support our charitable mission and programs. Unless a donor designates an approved specific purpose, donations may be used where they are most needed to support the work of the organization. Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center is a nonprofit organization. Donors should consult their own tax advisor regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions.

Donation Receipts

We will provide donation acknowledgments or receipts when appropriate and when sufficient donor information has been provided. Donors are responsible for maintaining their donation records for tax purposes.

Online Donations

Online donations may be processed through a secure third-party payment provider. Please review donation information carefully before submitting a contribution.

Refunds and Donation Errors

Charitable donations are generally considered final. However, we understand that mistakes can happen. If you believe a donation was made in error, entered for the wrong amount, duplicated, or processed without authorization, please contact us as soon as possible. We will review reasonable refund requests individually. Approved refunds will normally be returned using the original method of payment when possible. Refund requests should generally be made within 30 days of the donation.

Restricted Donations

When Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center accepts a donation for a specific approved program or purpose, we will make reasonable efforts to use the funds for that purpose. If the designated program is completed, fully funded, discontinued, or circumstances make the original purpose impractical, Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center may contact the donor when appropriate or use the funds for a closely related charitable purpose consistent with our mission and applicable requirements.

Donated Goods

Donated clothing, furniture, household goods, food, and other physical items become the property of Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center when accepted. Because donated goods may be distributed to clients, sold through our resale operations, recycled, transferred, or otherwise used to support our mission, donated items generally cannot be returned after they have been accepted. Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center does not assign a monetary value to donated goods. Donors are responsible for determining the value of donated property for tax purposes.
